Demand exceeding supplies for Essex food banks

Sonia Watson

Available for over a year

Managers at food banks in Essex say they are facing a double-whammy of higher demand but fewer donations. Around 40 per cent more food parcels are being handed out in Colchester and in Southend, but there are fewer people giving donations because of the cost of living crisis. BBC Essex speaks to Mike Beckett, chief executive of Colchester FoodBank, David Booth who is the founder of the Jaywick Sands Community Land Trust, which runs a foodbank - and Neil Stock, Conservative leader at Tendring District Council.
