Calls for diverse referees to join the game

Ben Jackson on BBC Radio Leicester

Available for over a year

No black or Asian referee has taken charge of a Premier League game since 2008 when Uriah Rennie took charge of his final game. An event in Highfields is looking to help change that perception, and encourage people from different backgrounds to pick up the whistle. Minesh Gupta, who has been a ref for 25 years around the semi pro game, and Patsy Andrews, who refs alongside her job in social care, told Jack Rafferty why that should change.
