Around two million people were expected to fly to and from the UK over the bank holiday weekend, but several airlines cancelled flights due to staff shortages across the travel industry. Rob Salmon from Church Broughton in Derbyshire said “there was no one from the airline there to help us” when his family's EasyJet flight from Portugal to the UK was cancelled. A spokesperson from EasyJet said: "We're very sorry and fully understand the disruption this would have caused for our customers."
