The dangers of misunderstanding a sneeze

CrowdScience

Available for over a year

Sneezing - and what happens to the droplets contained in a sneeze - has become a very important part of scientific discourse during the Covid 19 pandemic. It took many months for Covid 19 to be understood as an airbourne disease. That delay was down to 1930s understandings of how droplets move within a sneezes. . CrowdScience Presenter Marnie Chesterton speaks to Prof Lydia Bourouriba from MIT whose work with high speed cameras has demonstrated that droplets in sneezes are being carried much further than previously thought; findings with significant consequences for disease transmissions and social distancing guidelines.
