Poole cake maker 'gives back' to therapist who helped her overcome anxiety

Steve Harris

Available for over a year

For almost 40 years, Nikki Cadby from Parkstone faced mental health difficulties on a daily basis - at one point, having up to 20 panic attacks a day. The 49-year-old, who now owns her own cake business, says she feels like she "didn't live" for 20 years of her life, but "just existed". After successfully seeking help for her anxiety, Nikki now wants to give something back to her therapist who, in her words, she "wouldn't be here" without. Beverley Davies, who provided Nikki with cognitive behavioural therapy, recently self-published a CBT-based children's book called 'Mel & Pip & The Magic Snow Globe'. Nikki's raised enough money for Beverley to buy 200 copies of the book at author's cost, so they can be donated to schools, libraries and hospices. They've been sharing their story with BBC Radio Solent's Steve Harris.
