Sonia Watson

Available for over a year

Staff at Colchester hospital must start paying towards their parking again from next month (June 2022). The government provided this funding during the pandemic. They must give up 0.4 per cent of their salary, so a junior Band 5 nurse will pay £103 per year. Staff at the other four major hospitals in Essex - Southend, Broomfield, Basildon and Princess Alexandra in Harlow - will all continue to get free parking for the meantime. BBC Essex speaks to Matt Osborne, a charge nurse at Southend A&E and a lecturer in nursing studies at the University of Essex, and Kimberley Banthorpe who is a healthcare assistant and student nurse at Southend hospital.
