E-scooter trails extended

Paul Salt

Available for over a year

They might seem like they've been around for a while but if you've been in to Liverpool or Chester City Centre in the last year, you'll have noticed a load of scooters scattered about. They're E-scooters and are being used in trials to test out more sustainable modes of transport for shorter journeys. Safety concerns have been raised, but both schemes will be here for longer than first thought. Chester has just extended its trial until November, with Liverpool's already having an extension until March next year. The Royal Society for the Protection of Accidents has been involved with research into e-scooter accidents, with the report suggesting they are five times safer than bicycles. Their Head of Road and Leisure Safety is David Walker.
