Essex businesses struggling for staff

Sonia Watson

Available for over a year

Businesses in the county tell BBC Essex they are struggling to find good staff to fill their vacancies Recruitment experts estimate that there are 600,000 fewer people in the jobs market right now than before the pandemic. BBC Essex heard last week how there are more than 800 vacancies at Stansted Airport alone - and it seems they are not the only ones looking for good quality employees. BBC Essex speaks to Waqas Hussain, owner of Happicabs based across mid-Essex, which is trying to hire 100 new drivers, Nick Hulme who is the chief executive for Colchester Hospital, and Zoe Strong who is the manager at Channels Brasserie in Chelmsford.
