Increase in demand for food charities

Paul Salt

Available for over a year

Food prices are already much higher than they were a couple of years ago, but industry experts are warning that it start costing you even more to do your weekly shop soon. It means that more and more people are turning to organisations like Fare Share, they redistribute surplus food to other charities to turn it into meals. They've released some new research this morning, which says three quarters of charities they work with say they've seen an increase in demand over the past year. 90 per cent of their users also say they're feeling the pinch from the rising cost of living. Ann Dobie and Claire Williams are from Fare Share Merseyside.
