Liverpool City Council introduces £40 charge for green bins

Paul Salt

Available for over a year

Liverpool council's to start charging for emptying green garden waste bins. The fee is £40 a year and the new service kicks in on the 18th April. Once you've paid, you'll get an information pack and a sticker to put on your bin. Only those with stickers will be collected. If social media's anything to go by, some residents at least definitely aren't happy. People in Allerton in South Liverpool told our reporter Claire Hamilton what they make of the charge and we speak with Councillor Abdul Qadir, Liverpool's cabinet member for Neighbourhoods.
