Together Energy has gone bust, costing Warrington Council millions

Paul Salt

Available for over a year

Warrington Council is defending a decision to invest millions of pounds in an energy company that's now gone bust. The authority initially invested 18 million in Together Energy for a 50% stake in the firm in 2019, before lending it a further 20 million. The Labour-run council says it's disappointed that Together Energy has gone under. It's the latest energy company to fall due to a surge in wholesale gas and electricity prices. Andy Carter is Conservative MP for Warrington South.
