Government consider reduction in isolation time

Paul Salt

Available for over a year

Covid isolation being cut to 5 days is something being considered by the government. At the moment it's 10 days, but can be 7 days if negative lateral flow test results are recorded on days 6 and 7. Boris Johnson says "the thing to do, is look at the science". Many industries are struggling with staff shortages because of isolating staff, they include Merseyrail, who are changing to a 30 minute service on all lines on the 17th of January to try and avoid cancellations. Dr Tom Wingfield is Senior Clinical Lecturer and an Honorary Consultant Physician at the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine.
