"This is the worst humanitarian disaster in recent times."

CWR Breakfast with Phil Upton

Available for over a year

A number of migrants headed for the UK have drowned in the Channel near Calais after their boat sank. Dr Sabir Zazai arrived in the UK as an asylum seeker in 1999, fleeing the conflict in Afghanistan. He lived in Coventry and got involved in local community initiatives. From 2014, Sabir led the Coventry Refugee and Migrant Centre, a charity that once assisted Sabir through his own journey as a refugee. He's been talking to CWR Breakfast with Phil Upton.
