Navratri celebrations

CWR Breakfast with Phil Upton

Available for over a year

As with most things last year - the traditional way of celebrating the Hindu festival of Navratri was put on hold. That's because Navratri literally means 9 nights...and Hindus mark it by fasting and dancing over the nine nights. Well this year some events have been scaled down or cancelled altogether because of Covid but one place where dancing will happen for all nine nights is the Shree Krishna Temple in Coventry, Krupa Pandya's dad is the priest there and is also a volunteer. Sonam Jaju is from the Sayahdri Friends Group in Coventry and they have organised a stick-dancing event called Dandiya night this weekend to celebrate Navratri. They joined Phil to talk about the festival and celebrating again this year.
