Health Visiting during COVID

Stuart George

Available for over a year

Usually with a newborn, you get checked up by a health visitor in the early days - to see if the baby and parents are doing okay. But research during COVID's found just 1 in 10 parents of under twos saw a health visitor face-to-face - lots moved to the phone or Zoom. Charities are saying this gap in face-to-face health visiting for the majority of families has left a hole in services, and added pressure to an already stretched service. As part of 'Lockdown Babies' Lee Thomas on BBC Radio Stoke spoke to Alison Morton, Executive Director at the Institute of Health Visiting.
