A week before the first lockdown in March 2020, Carol-Ann was in hospital in Cheshire, giving birth to twin boys, Blake and Carter. Little did she know the maternity unit was being turned into a COVID ward around her. A month later in Staffordshire, Amy gave birth to her first baby, Imogen. They both had huge challenges to overcome, Carol Ann and her partner both caught COVID and lost a loved one. For Amy, she opens up about how leaving her partner at the maternity unit door broke her heart and the toll lockdown has taken on her mental health. Both women talk about how they coped without grandparents help and how upsetting it was for family needing PPE to even get close to the new arrival. You can hear the full Lockdown Babies series on BBC Radio Stoke and BBC Sounds.
