'You heard the arm snap' - Anecdotes from 1980's TV show featuring Dorset pubs

Steve Harris

Available for over a year

Interpub '86 was a TV show where pubs went head-to-head in popular pub games. In 1986 the final was between two Dorset pubs, The Carpenters Arms in Leigh, near Sherborne, and The Clifton Hotel on Portland. One of the competitions was an arm wrestling match and Mark Bird told BBC Radio Solent how, among the chaos, he managed to snap the arm of this opponent. We went on a quest to find some of the people involved. One of those people was Mike Bird, who competed in arm wrestling.
