Mum meets a new friend - a cat that loves purring and never needs feeding!

Andrew Edwards

Available for over a year

Mum's always loved animals, but - until dementia struck - has never really liked cats. Since she was a girl she'd had a canary and always fed birds in the garden. She took the view that cats and birds didn't mix. However, since she's been ill, her old dislike has melted away. Andrew presents her with a new pet, a cat which never needs feeding and which purrs and miaows when stroked. It's animatronic and designed specially for people with dementia. Mum and Me: The Dementia Diary was originally broadcast on BBC Radio Leeds.
