Should you walk across a field of cows with or without a dog?

Steve Harris

Available for over a year

A Northampton woman who was on holiday in Sandford near Poole has paid tribute to a stranger who she says 'helped save the life' of a woman who was trampled on by cows in a field in Tyneham. Amanda Mykytka watched in horror as a herd of cattle rounded on the woman and her dog, before raising the alarm. The victim was seriously injured and taken to hospital - it's understood the injuries were not life threatening or life changing. A week before that incident, Andrew Findley from Bransome Park was chased by the same cows at the same location, describing the experience as 'bizarre' before he made his escape over a barbed wire fence. Amanda wants to raise awareness of the DO's and DON'T's for people encountering cows in a field. She told BBC Radio Solent she's written to the holiday park in Poole where she stayed to suggest safety advice is offered in visitor welcome packs.
