Toilet hire crisis leaves events without portaloos

Steve Harris

Available for over a year

A Corfe Mullen based portaloo company has stopped taking orders for July and August after a surge in demand. The pandemic has seen increased orders for portable lavatories from the construction industry, festivals and pop-up camp sites to ensure compliance with Covid restrictions including social distancing. But it's also led to blockages in the supply chain with higher levels of overseas demand compounding the problem. Eddie May is a director at Abbas Cabins based in Corfe Mullen, a company serving customers in the construction industry and events with portaloos across Dorset, Hampshire and Wiltshire. He told BBC Radio Solent's Steve Harris his team are flat out trying meet supply with demand.
