'Watching the Capitol riots reminded me of 9/11'

The Interview

Available for over a year

Retired US admiral and former Supreme Commander of Nato’s armed forces James Stavridis says he was reminded of the anger he felt after the attacks on the World Trade Center in New York and the Pentagon in Washington, in 2001. "I was in the Pentagon on 9/11. I literally watched the plane hit the Pentagon. and the next day George Bush came to the Pentagon and assembled all the admirals and generals and he was angry. And he said, 'I want you to remember this day, to remember what it feels like, as you smell the cordite'. Today, I suspect, as the work of Congress returns, there must be anger felt by many as they smell that tear gas lingering."
