Why eating chilli peppers might extend your life

Newsday

Available for over a year

If you like eating food with Chilli pepper in it, you could be extending your life. That’s the conclusion of a study of research that looked at the health records of over half a million people across China, Iran, Italy and the United States. Those who consumed chilli pepper reduced the risk of all-cause mortality by 25%. But it is still unclear how much we should eat, and how often. The senior author on this study, Dr Bo Xu, is a cardiologist at the Cleveland Clinic's Heart, Vascular & Thoracic Institute in Cleveland, Ohio. (Photo: Plate of chilli peppers. Credit: Getty Images)
