Breakfast on BBC Radio Leeds

Available for over a year

This week's edition marks World Alzheimer's Day on September 21st. Andrew makes the most of the late summer sun and takes Mum on a trip to the Yorkshire coast. She makes it, briefly, to the railings overlooking the sea. Although she doesn't react much on the journey, Mum comes alive listening to Acker Bilk's 'Stranger on the Shore' when they get back home. As BBC local radio, in conjunction with BBC Archives and BBC Music, celebrates Memory Radio 1960s, Andrew reflects on the power of music to evoke memories. Mum and Me: The Dementia Diary was originally broadcast on BBC Radio Leeds.
