Hailing from Shephard’s Bush, 21 year-old Maddi Jean’s dreamy electro-pop sound is the product of her lifelong love of pop music. Despite her success in the modelling world over the last few years, Maddi’s self-confidence held her back from pursuing her first love: music. It wasn’t until she posted two cover songs on SoundCloud and racked up over 35,000 streams that she found the confidence and self-belief to go for it. Uploading ‘Young In Love’ to BBC Music Introducing back in August with very little backstory, Maddi let the music do the talking as her heady vocals and dreamy soundscape caught our attention and got us toe-tapping. A sonic representation of the hedonism and weightlessness of youth, the tracks twinkling synths and softly bouncing percussion convey a subtle euphoria reminiscent of summer nights and harmless revelry.
