BGT Diversity Dance controversy

The VIBE with Aminata Kamara

Available for over a year

Aminata was joined by Carol Leeming MBE, a cultural curator, and Dr Funmi Adewole, a dance lecturer, who gave their perspective as Black women and dance experts on the Diversity dance group performance on Britain's Got Talent. Whilst many people supported the group for powerful choreography and story-telling, the dance sparked thousands of complaints as it was seen by some as political content on what is considered to be a light-hearted entertainment show. The dance was about Black Lives Matter and how the death of George Floyd opened eyes to racism, and that society can change.
