Kate Winslet Ammonite movie to make Mary Anning 'household name' - Anning charity trustee
Steve HarrisAvailable for over a year
We've had our first look at a major film shot in Lyme Regis, about Dorset paleontologist Mary Anning. Ammonite tells the story of the famous female fossil hunter and stars Kate Winslet and Saoirse Ronan. The British Film Institute says Ammonite will close this year's London Film Festival, in October. The Mary Anning Rocks charity is raising money for a statue of the paleontologist to be put up in her home town of Lyme Regis. Anya Pearson, one of the charity's trustees, told BBC Radio Solent's Dorset breakfast presenter Steve Harris she's excited after getting a first glimpse of the film, after its first trailer was released.
