During lockdown, the IET (Institution of Engineering & Technology) challenged kids to come up with a new invention that makes an existing sport even better. Charlotte Geary, 13, presented her idea called the ‘Electrodeck’ to judges including cycling champion Mark Cavendish. The teenager’s design of a ‘motor-powered, multi-directional skateboard' kick-flipped her into first place and now her idea has been turned into a prototype, as part of the prize.
