RIVERS: River Idle

World at One

Available for over a year

Continuing our series on Rivers, we visit the River Idle. It's only 26 miles long and even its most ardent fans would struggle to describe it as particularly scenic as it winds its way through the flat borderland of Nottinghamshire, Lincolnshire and South Yorkshire But it does have a fascinating history and it's also an important wildlife site. The World at One reporter Bob walker has been learning more from James Brown who runs a large organic farm which relies heavily on the Idle.
