This 'lost' work - only discovered in 1972 and for 40 years thought to be by Felix Mendelssohn - is now known to be by his sister Fanny. The breadth of musical ideas and challenge to the pianist shows us that she was every bit a composer as brother Felix. This 1828 piece is a musical narration of Easter with the powerful last movement depicting Jesus' death and not, as might be expected, His resurrection. Composer: Fanny Mendelssohn Performer: Sofya Gulyak (Piano) Recording date: 08 March 2017 Date of broadcast: 08 March 2017
