Requiem - an extended hymn for the dead - is reshaped by Britten with the addition of Wilfred Owen's devastating WW1 poems. This musical battleground fills with huge forces - soloists, multiple choirs, an orchestra and off-stage ensemble. Hope is offered to us at the end but only after much pain and sadness.
