Lutosławski's 'Concerto for Orchestra' is full of Polish folk melodies which are developed in a variety of ways. The first movement is dense and aggressive and the second is light, nocturnal, and ethereal. The main movement is the vast finale movement which ends the work with flying scales and a high-energy coda.
