3 Songs after Edith Sitwell

Experience Classical

Available for over a year

The 3 songs 'Daphne', Through Guided Trellises' and 'Old Sir Faulk' were composed to accompany poems from Edith Sitwell's series titled 'Façade'. These were reset by Walton in 1932 as songs in their own right for soprano and piano. The most cheerful of the three 'Old Sir Faulk' is a bouncing fox-trot with humorous, nonsense lyrics. Composer: William Walton Performer: Fatma Said (Soprano) Conductor: Joseph Middleton (Piano) Recording date: 21 October 2017 Date of broadcast: 25 October 2017
