Symphonic metamorphosis of themes by Carl Maria von Weber
Experience ClassicalAvailable for over a year
This can probably be regarded as Hindemith’s most popular and accessible work. Based on tunes by the German composer Carl Maria von Weber, Hindemith composed a colourful and entertaining orchestral work, and thankfully didn’t mess around too much with the original material. That’s probably down to the high esteem Weber was continually held in classical circles since his death in 1826. Composer: Paul Hindemith Performers: BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra Conductor: Martyn Brabbins Recording date: 13 December 2012 Date of broadcast: 13 December 2012
