The ballet Le Baiser de la fée ('The Fairy's Kiss') was composed by Stravinsky in 1928 and is based on Hans Christian Andersen's 'The Ice Maiden'. The ballet is very much a tribute to Tchaikovsky who Stravinsky admired. He wrote it to mark the 35th anniversary of Tchaikovsky's death and used several of Tchaikovsky's melodies in the composition.
