England Netball have announced that the rest of the 2020 Super League season will be cancelled due to the coronavirus outbreak. Wasps Netball Head Coach Mel Mansfield speaks to Richard Williams. The decision comes after recent announcements from the women’s rugby Premier 15s and football super league that they will scrap the rest of their seasons to ensure the safety of their athletes. Fran Connolly, the chief executive of England Netball, said: “It has become clear that large sporting gatherings will unlikely be deemed safe in coming months and after lengthy discussions we believe it would not be logistically possible or sustainable without crowds to reignite the season.” The governing body said that possibilities of playing games behind closed doors had been considered but rejected.
