Although famed as a violinist, Vieuxtemps was also a wonderful viola player and it really shows in the wistful, yearning and dramatic Elegie, op. 30. The darker, richer tone the viola produces is ideally suited to convey the depth of emotion necessary in this little masterpiece. Composer: Henri Vieuxtemps Performer: Eivind Ringstad (Viola) Performer: David Meier (Piano) Recording date: 19 June 2017 Date of broadcast: 02 September 2017
