Available for over a year

Des Knaben Wunderhorn is a selection of settings of German folk poems. In Revelge, a parade of skeleton soldiers march mindlessly chanting their marching song. Despite his pleas, the ghostly comrades will not allow the skeleton drummer to join them. Mahler uses the wooden part of the violin bow hitting a string (col legno) to reflect the brittle knocking of bones. Composer: Gustav Mahler Performer: Benjamin Appl (Baritone) Performer: Pavel Kolesnikov (Piano) Recording date: 31 October 2015 Date of broadcast: 22 January 2016
