Make-up artist loving life at leading theatrical special effects company

Steve Harris

Available for over a year

Gigi Rainsbury from Bournemouth joined the special effects company, The Twins FX, in Wareham, Dorset as a trainee four months ago. In a short space of time, the 22 year old has already been involved in a broad range of activity including painting, fibre-glassing and resin mould work. However, most current projects remain a closely guarded secret in order to retain the element of surprise for pantomine audiences across the United Kingdom. Gigi told BBC Radio Solent :"It's never a boring day, every day is completely different, it's great fun." The Dorset-based visual special effects firm is described as the leading company operating in the field of theatrical special effects, illusions and animatronics. Previous creations have included soaring airborne flying dragons, a mighty 8 metre tall gorilla, the world's largest pantomine giant, floating magic carpets and three sets of flying horses pulling Cinderella's sparkling crystal coaches. Gigi (Myra Diana) Rainsbury is also a talented make-up artist, having studied 'Make-Up and Prosthetics for Theatre and Film' at Arts University Bournemouth. Her magical and fantastical facial designs have attracted 25,000 followers on Instagram.
