Serenade for string orchestra, Op 6

Experience Classical

Available for over a year

Suk wrote his serenade at the suggestion of his teacher Dvorak. It was Suk’s first great success with long tuneful melodies. Czech folk tunes are suggested throughout – but never used. It is an attractive work which deserves to be better known. Composer: Josef Suk Performers: BBC National Orchestra of Wales Conductor: James Clark Recording date: 30 January 2001 Date of broadcast: 03 July 2002
