Considered the most painful medical condition known to mankind: "I'd just scream"

Steve Harris

Available for over a year

A Wyke Regis man has described his experience of twice living with a medical condition considered to be the most painful known to mankind. Monday 7th October 2019 is trigeminal neuralgia awareness day - its symptoms cause chronic burning pain in the face. Pete McKernan told BBC Radio Solent that he went through hell with the disease for four years up until September 2008 - it then switched from the left to the right side of his face three years later. Although Peter is currently pain free after two different medical procedures, he's been told it's highly likely Trigemainal Neuralgia will return.
