Semenya's soccer switch

World and Olympic 800 metres champion Caster Semenya has signed to play football with J V W club in her native South Africa. The Hau-teng club is owned by the Banyana Banyana captain Janine van Wyk. Semenya is unable to compete in middle distance events without taking testosterone-reducing drugs following a rule change by athletics' governing body. So for the time being, she's turned to football. Semenya has already trained with the team, although she can't play until next year as the latest transfer window has closed. Van Wyk told Maz Farookhi the possibility of Semenya signing for her team first came up when the Olympic champion came to visit the South Africa camp at the Women's World Cup a few months ago.
