Taxi driver Mel tried to 'almost come out' to her mum as a 9 year old

Weymouth taxi driver Melody Mitchell has been in a same sex relationship for eleven years. However, at times it was difficult and she felt that growing up in a town like Weymouth in the eighties and nineties was tough because it's such a small community. At the end of July, Weymouth & Portland Pride 2019 will be staged in the town for the first time. Mel says Pride means 'being proud of who you are, standing up for what you believe in and showing acceptance, kindness and tolerance, all in one big package'.
