Karl and Devon - The joys of modern life

The Listening Project

Available for over a year

We recorded this at 7am in the morning, Devon was working nights and Karl had a busy day ahead with meetings that day to raise the profile of young afro Caribbean people in the city. He always tells his kids there isn’t anything in life that can’t be achieved and to never let peoples assumptions of you determine your destiny. Whilst we chat we find out that Devon keeps everything like his old childhood annuals, Karl however believes having stuff you don’t need in life weighs you down. Karl is a second generation young man from an Afro Caribbean background with very modern thinking who want to convince a family friend whose a similar age to his dad to get with the programme and get more up to date on modern life, however Devon tries to convince Karl that having a traditional approach to life is still valuable.
