Steroid use 'prevalent across society'

5 Live In Short

Available for over a year

UK Anti Doping - the national body anti-doping agency - has revealed research indicating performance enhancing steroid use is 'prevalent across society', not just amongst professional athletes. UKAD chief executive Nicole Sapstead told 5 live Sportsweek that ordinary members of the public are resorting to steroid use to improve body image or sporting prowess. Sapstead hopes a new partnership with the gym and fitness industry will help 'educate' the public about the dangers of taking performance enhancing drugs. From Sportsweek Sunday 19 May 2019
