Sudan protest: 'the streets are very alive'

Newsday

Available for over a year

Sudanese protest leaders have called for a nationwide campaign of civil disobedience; they accuse the military of delaying the transfer of power to a civilian government. However the military has suggested it may call elections within six months if talks with opposition activists fail to reach an agreement on the structure of an interim government. Hajooj Kooka of GIRIFNA, a non-violent resistance movement in Sudan, told Newsday about the potential dangers of further delay. (Pic: Street protesters in Khartoum, Sudan; Credit: AFP)
