Temporary homeless shelter opens in Weymouth

Steve Harris

Available for over a year

A temporary winter shelter for rough sleepers has opened in Weymouth. It's be located at the Lantern, a charity which provides links to services for people made homeless. It will provide shelter until the end of March. It's hoped that people who take up the offer of a safe bed for the night will also be able to find support with the issues they face. Our reporter Laurence Herdman spoke to volunteer Kerry Mellor, from the Julian House outreach team - the other charity involved - who'd just been out on an early morning patrol, at the end of a very cold night in the town.
