The tragedies of Norton Fitzwarren

Charlie Taylor

Available for over a year

In 1890, a collision on the main railway line between Taunton and Wellington killed ten people. The villagers of Norton Fitzwarren were quick to help injured passengers and clear the wreckage. Fifty years later almost to the day, they were needed again. A train derailed in the same spot as the earlier collision. Twenty seven people died. This is the story of those tragedies, hearing from an eye witness, a relative of a signalman involved and a railway accident expert.
