Remembering 'younger brother' George Best

Sarah Walker

Available for over a year

He's greatest chat show host of all time with some of UK television's the most memorable interviews to his name. Bray's Sir Michael Parkinson is of course Berkshire royalty, but I bet if you had to name one of his favourite guests it'd have to be George Best - a great footballer but also a troubled soul. He joined BBC Radio Berkshire's Sarah Walker. Sir Michael Parkinson: "He was 17, I was in Manchester and had just joined a fledgling Granada Television, and we met through a mutual friend. He was reserved...and not quite the all conquering George we came to know. "He was the greatest footballer I ever saw. "The best years were yet to come. I was watching [Lionel] Messi the other day and he's 32, and that should have been George."
