Celebrating Blue Peter's 60th Birthday

Sarah Walker

Available for over a year

Blue Peter aired for the first time on the BBC as a 15-minute show on 16th October 1958. Presenters over the years have become much loved household names, and Valerie Singleton and Peter Duncan joined Sarah Walker for a chat about their time on the programme. Valerie Singleton: "There's just a moment that stands out for me, and it is quite a simple moment. We had a stuffed horse in the show...and it had led the charge of the light brigade. "As someone who was interested in history, and as someone who knew about that terrible war. To think that was sat in the middle of the Blue Peter studio." Peter Duncan: "My first Blue Peter expedition was going to Japan, and I'd never done anything so exotic before. I ended up training to be a sumo wrestler."
