BBC Radio 6 Music resident poet Murray Lachlan Young joined 6 Music Breakfast this morning to share some creative tips for aspiring writers on #nationalpoetryday. 1 – Don’t confuse your creative self and your editorial self – don’t question yourself when working on an idea. Keep the editor out of the room until it is time to criticize yourself 2 – It is important to get your head straight around your work – your writing must be your main job 3 – Please, don’t take it all so seriously. There’s too many words and books and it’ll all be forgotten in 10,000 years and this helps to put everything in perspective sometimes.
